Sustainability

An advantage for the environment and savings for companies

Energy, in any form, is a precious commodity. Producing energy costs a lot and has a strong environmental impact, so it must be used in the most efficient way possible. We at Porta srl are aware of being part of a fundamental sector for the global ecosystem, and for this reason we are committed to highly ecological technical solutions and will continue to do so.

The first strategy is energy saving: our customers, in fact, need large quantities of energy, but are often forced to waste part of it in the environment. Our objective is therefore to create virtuous technological paths, for a lower energy expenditure thanks to the recovery of waste energy. This represents both economic savings for our customers and an important contribution to protecting the environment.

Concrete solutions for immediate savings and future well-being

Cogeneration, the use of biomass and biogas, low NOX burners connected to heat pumps, high-efficiency turbines and modern pollutant collection systems are other solutions designed to protect the environment. We design and install industrial heating systems powered by biomass of various sizes and types of fuel (grass cuttings, wood chips, manure, etc.).

By using biomass found on site, such as forest cuttings or carpentry waste, cogeneration plants save on consumption (transport) and substantially protect the environment, avoiding releasing new carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The biomass power plant can use various heat transfer fluids: steam, diathermic oils, hot and superheated water and the new silicone thermal oils, which allow to obtain process temperatures up to 400°C.

The biomass-fueled plant can be used as part of a cogeneration cycle, through the installation of an organic fluid turbine (ORC, Organic Rankine Cycle), which receives the process fluid as input and produces electricity and hot water.

It is possible to integrate ORC turbines into a high-temperature industrial production cycle, capable of receiving silicone oil at 400 °C as input and producing electricity and industrial steam, which can be used directly in processes that require it. The greatest savings are achieved in companies that have easily available biomass (processing waste) and use hot water 24 hours a day as part of their production.

Trigeneration: a cutting-edge solution

A further relatively recent technological development is Trigeneration, i.e. the simultaneous production of electricity, hot water and cold air, thanks to the installation of a heat pump or absorption chiller in the system. The customized solutions designed by our technical office always aim to reduce the environmental impact, saving energy and reducing waste and releases of harmful substances
